Download and play the free mobile game now! Fallout 3 dlc. Feb 13, 2019  The Tetris® 99 digital game includes an online mode that is a special offer for Nintendo Switch Online members. In large-scale, 99-player battles, it’ll take speed, skill, and strategy to.

In Tetris, blocks will fall from the top of the screen and you have to organise them so they complete rows. When you complete a row, it will vanish from your screen and any rows above will cascade down.

The goal of Tetris is to stop the blocks from reaching the very top of the screen, before you “top out”.Tetris 99 takes the core gameplay from traditional Tetris and places you against 98 other players to compete and be the last player standing. You can target other players and send garbage lines their way to push them toward the top of the screen and hopefully eliminate them.

Of course, other players can also target you, so you need to be prepared for a surge upwards if you’re being targeted by a number of players at once. Tetris 99 attacking optionsAt the top of the screen, you’ll see four options of who to target with the right stick:Random - This targets any random player in the game.Attackers - You can target anyone who is also targeting you, meaning you can target more than one player at once.Badges - Target whoever has the most knockouts/badges (explained more thoroughly below).K.O.s - This one feels a bit cheeky, but you’ll essentially target whoever is closest to being eliminated, to hopefully score some easy knockouts.Whichever one you choose is solely down to you. If I’m being targeted by multiple people then I like to go for Attackers, but often times I’ll leave it on Random and focus on my own game. If there’s a specific player you want to target, you can navigate between players individually with the left stick. Tetris 99 garbageYou attack other players by sending garbage their way. These are the grey blocks that send you surging up the screen if other players attack you.

It may seem somewhat random and unfair when you get lots of garbage on your screen, but there is actually a method behind it and we’ve got everything you need to know about garbage in Tetris 99.Essentially, clearing just a single line at once doesn’t help much other than to stop you from moving up the screen. To send garbage to whoever you’re targeting, you need to clear multiple lines at once. Here’s how it works:Clear two lines - Send one line of garbageClear three lines - Send two lines of garbageClear four lines - Send four lines of garbageClear the full board - Send 10 lines of garbageIf you focus on clearing multiple lines at once, you can deal some serious damage to whoever you’re targeting. Of course, if you’ve only got a few lines of wiggle room right at the top of the screen then just try to clear as much as possible, even if it does mean doing single lines. On the flip side, when garbage is being thrown your way, you’ll see it stack in the bottom left corner of the screen. It starts off grey, before turning yellow, then red. These colours indicate how long you have to act to remove some of the garbage before it fills up most of your play area. Continue to clear lines as quickly as possible while the garbage is stacking and you can reduce the amount of damage it does when it eventually hits.

Tetris 99 T spinsA Tetris 99 T spin is a move that can exclusively be pulled off with the T block (three at the bottom, one above in the middle). It’s possible to navigate the T block through tight spaces by rotating the piece in the correct direction through a T shaped gap. If this sounds difficult to pull off, it’s because it is, especially when you consider T spin doubles and triples. With that said, completing T spins will send even more garbage to your opponents:T spin single - Send two lines of garbageT spin double - Send four lines of garbageT spin triple - Send six lines of garbageIf you’re just getting started with Tetris 99 don’t worry about T spins too much, but they’re something to consider as you improve at the game. Tetris 99 badgesBadges are essentially the amount of players you’ve knocked out in the game. This is indicated next to the K.O.

In the bottom right corner of the screen, right above a percentage figure. This percentage represents the amount of extra garbage you’ll send with each clear, and you can increase this amount by increasing your number of knockouts. Two knockouts - 25% garbage bonusSix knockouts - 50% garbage bonus14 knockouts - 75% garbage bonus30 knockouts - 100% garbage bonusYou may be thinking that is a lot of knockouts to obtain in one game of Tetris 99, but it’s not quite as difficult as that. Whenever you knockout a player, you inherit all of their badges (knockouts) as well. This means that if you can knock out a couple of people who had done well at the start of the game, you’ll quickly start accumulating some serious garbage bonuses.

Suddenly the “Badges” targeting option seems a lot more tempting, doesn’t it?

Tetris 99 is a competitive multiplayer battle-royale version of the classic puzzle game, Tetris. It is available to download for free in the Nintendo Switch eShop exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online members. In this unique reimagining of Tetris, players face off against 98 other players to see who can survive the longest. Players can target other players to attack, and targeted opponents can attack back.

Attacking another player fills the bottom of their play area with garbage blocks, sending the top of their stack closer to the top of the screen, which results in a KO once the stack reaches the top. Many players have expressed frustration at figuring out the controls and multiplayer aspects of this new version of Tetris. This guide will help you get started playing this competitive remake of the classic puzzle game. The controls are very similar to other versions of Tetris.

The core gameplay doesn’t differ much from the original version, other than online multiplayer aspects.Move Tetrimino left or right: left or right on d-padSoft drop: down on d-padHard drop: up on d-pad.Rotate right: A or YRotate left: B or XHold Tetrimino: Left or right shoulder buttonChange targeting option: Right stickManually target opponents: Left stick.Hard drop can be turned off in the options menu for those who have a habit of accidentally pressing up on the d-pad too early. Before beginning Tetris 99, it is helpful to know what everything on the interface represents. The interface is pretty straightforward, but if you’ve never played Tetris before, you may want an explanation:. Your play area is at the center of the screen. This is where your blocks accumulate, and you play the game. On the left and right sides of the screen, you can see all of your opponent’s game boards. This is useful for keeping an eye on their progress to choose targets, seeing how many opponents are left in the game, and keeping an eye on the players that are targeting you.

There will be a green hexagon on the player(s) you are targeting, and yellow lines showing the players who are targeting you. The upper left-hand side of your play area shows the Tetrimino that you are holding in reserve. Below that on the left-hand side, you can keep an eye on in-coming attacks. On the upper right-hand side of your play area, you can see the next five upcoming Tetriminos. Keep an eye on these to help plan your next moves. Below this on the right-hand side shows what place you are in and how many badges you have earned. As you clear multiple rows of blocks from your board and perform combos, you will be able to attack opponents by sending rows of garbage blocks to the bottom of their board, sending their stacks of blocks closer and closer to the top.

(But be careful! Opponents will send garbage blocks to you as well!)At the beginning of each match, you will see a menu showing you different targeting options for attacking opponents. This allows you to decide who you will send rows of garbage blocks to as you clear rows from your board.Select the option you want by pressing the corresponding direction with the right analog stick. You can change your targeting option at any time during the match by using the right analog stick.

Random is selected by default.K.O.s: Sends garbage blocks to the player closest to getting knocked out of the round.Randoms: Randomly chooses opponent to send garbage blocks.Badges: Sends garbage blocks to the player with the most badges.Attackers: Sends garbage blocks to opponents who are sending garbage blocks to you. This is the only mode where you can target multiple opponents at the same time. You can also manually select players to target by using the left analog stick. T-Spin: A T-Spin is technique for rotating a block into a position where it won’t fit with a regular drop. Usually, this involves an overhang, where you drop a tetromino to the exact level of the overhang, then rotate it into place at the last possible moment. T-Spins double your combos, which power up your attacks.Attack Bonus: If you are targeted by three or more attackers at the same time, you receive an attack bonus, which means you can send out more garbage blocks at a time. To take full advantage of this attack bonus, simply switch to targeting attackers (which is the only targeting mode that allows you to attack multiple opponents at a time) to send out the maximum amount of garbage when you clear rows.Tetrises: To get a Tetris, you must clear four rows at the same time.

The easiest way to get Tetrises is to create a “well,” four spaces high, and drop an l-Tetrimino (the long blue block).Back-to-Back Combos: Get multiple Tetrises or T-Spins in a row to get a greater attack power boost.Strategize Your Targets: You may want to start off using the K.O.s targeting mode to increase your amount of K.O.s early in the game. This can help you build up you badges to increase your attack power. Switch to Attackers when you see multiple people attacking you to maximize the amount of garbage blocks you are sending out. You may also want to manually target opponents that you see are near the top of their screen for easy K.O.s.Use Hard Drops: Clear rows faster by using hard drops to instantly drop blocks once you have them lined up where you want them to fall (press up on d-pad).
